May 23rd 2015

I woke up and was ready to go this morning.
I got dressed
and was about to head to the St Thomas market
when John arrived!

We went together to the market
and got some fresh asparagus, cucumbers, green tomatoes,
some Jamaican curry and some nice plants.
ONE was called a monkey flower.

When we got home,
although we planned to do very little,
we ended up working very hard on our backyard.

John had a couple friends stop by,
so I busied myself
planting the new flowers,
straightening up the deck area,
gathering the fallen clothespins and fixing the holder,
while the boys discussed trucking
and stupid stuff.

When I appeared back outside,
2 of them were attempting to dig up a 15 year old forsythia
and move it to a new location!
After much digging and farting around
they did manage to do it.

While I ran out for a beer and burger reward,
they replanted it where we lost a big bush this winter.

After a much needed break and lunch,
it was back to work.
The boys managed to move the portable garage
into its new home beside the house.
It fits right in the space,
and will house the antique car.

By 4:30pm we were cleaning up messes
and figuring out what jobs could be finished tomorrow.
The plan is to get the plants
back in the ground,
and finish cleaning up the back yard.

We are hoping for good weather next weekend,
so we can get the deck fixed up and expanded
in time for Judy's birthday party.

By 6pm
John had showered and I had checked the ads.
We went to use our patio chairs,
and found 2 of 4 of them
in useable condition.

We headed out to find the hammock replacements
we needed (probably needed last year)
and they were on sale at Canadian Tire!

One chair swing and one regular hammock.

Super comfy and I think better
than the solid fabric ones they replaced.

We also tried numerous chairs,
and although they were NOT on sale...
we found new chairs for the patio!
They are nice high backs
wide enough to be comfortable
and NO cushions to store.

Even Shooter got a chance to try the new chairs tonight!

After a clean up and some snacks,
it was family time
and a movie night.

Good night from some tired people on John Street.
