Christmas lights (also known as fairy lights) are lights used for decoration in celebration of Christmas, often on display throughout the Christmas season including Advent. The custom goes back to when Christmas trees were decorated with candles which symbolized Christ being the light of the world. This custom was borrowed from pagan yule rituals that celebrate the return of the light of the sun as the days grow longer after solstice: the evergreen trees symbolising the renewal and continuance of life in dark times. The Christmas trees were brought by Christians into their homes in early modern Germany.
Sunday and I did not want to get up!
Off to Valleyview to do coffee,
Refill the gift shop,
And visit with apparently everyone!
When Dad finished lunch
We headed home
And spent 2 hours decorating
(Finally) the front entrance.
John hung the wreaths
And lit the fence line.
Came back inside
Rather chilly and ate some lunch.
John needed a nap,
So he went to sleep
And I watched some tv.
Big plans to do some repairs
And promptly broke my glue gun.
We spent the evening repiling
Decoration boxes
And washing dishes.
Good night from John Street
