MAY 16

May 16th 2017

Well the dream of sleeping in
was an epic failure.

The hospital was on the phone

at 8:30 advising me Mom was ready.
Catheter removed,
doctor had been in,
prescriptions written,
breakfast eaten,
cleaned up and dressed.

My eyes weren't open yet.

I got dressed and recruited Judy
to get Tinker to the condo.
Naturally it was pouring rain.

When I got up to her floor,
there she was sitting and waiting
all packed to go.

We made a quick stop
at Valleyview to reassure Dad
that she was just fine.
She didn't even argue
when I pulled out the wheelchair.
We found him playing
with his keyboard in his room.

He was so happy to see her!
Surprised, but happy.
We only stayed a few minutes,
but he did escort us down to the lobby.

I got her home and sent her for pjs.
Judy unpacked her bag
and Tinker danced around her feet.
She was tired enough
not to argue and got into bed.

I told her to get some sleep
(she only slept a couple hours
at the actual hospital)
and told her I would be back later.

Dropped off her prescriptions
for delivery asap,
and headed home for some food.

I did some chores and clean up,
and packed for quilting class.

Gave Mom a call at 2
and she was happily enjoying the tv
and relaxing, so I let her be.
Told her I would be there around 4.

John got up,
just in time to say good bye
as I headed out the door.
When I got to the condo,
Mom was fast asleep,
so, I did the dishes,
let the dog out
when Mom happily announced
I should get her craft bag ready,
she was going to class tonight.
I did and got her going around 5:45.

The quilting class we are taking
is every Tuesday night.
Mom was not sure about tonight,
but had a good time,
and no real pain came from going.
She wore her pjs to class.

The first classes are all about
us hand painting the quilting squares
for the tops of our comforters.
The theme is hummingbirds.

I got Mom home in time
for a painkiller and some food,
Got her all set up
and told her I would see her at 11am.
She promised to be in bed.

The weather tomorrow
is supposed to be particularly warm,
so I am planning on relaxing
in the finished basement at the condo
and paint a little more of my quilt.

This afternoon
John handed me my key ring back,
alas there were no keys on it.
So I found myself locked out of the house
after 11pm tonight.

Thankfully Judy only works
a few blocks away,
so I went and grabbed hers,
and a slice of pizza too.

Home again, all I want to do
is lie down.
I have had it........ at least for today.

Good night from John Street
