I woke up and just knew it was going to be another hot day to end the summer vacation.

Now we are headlong
into the long weekend!

I sat out front with Shooter,
Only to be joined
by my 4 year old neighbour
Who has a giant crush on our dog.

I forgot how much fun
it is to talk
With a small person!

We talked of current events,
Like the packing
of her very first pencil case
with 2 pencil sharpeners!
We discussed the weather
And whether or not
it would rain "hard"
And make a big puddle.
We discussed nature
because a giant honey bee
Was buzzing
around the garden flowers
And the about caterpillar
Daddy just brought over
And that they would someday
Become a butterfly.
We discussed
the traffic going too fast
The policeman
sitting across the street
And Daddy
who was going to make
big noise
With his lawnmower.

Then Grandma came out
and said it was lunchtime
So she had to go!

Charlotte arrived
soon after that,
And we road tripped
to the closing
Woodstock Scrapbook store.
We took the long way
as by now
The weird storm
was making driving
pretty hard to do.

Then we stopped
at the TA truck stop
And took John out for dinner.

Homeward bound,
We took the highway
this time and was home by 6.

Got home
just in time to say good bye
As Judy was off to work
at the Sparta raceway this time
tonight and maybe tomorrow.

So I went grocery shopping
alone,
And now it is time for bed.

This stupid muggy weather
is the pits!
