Sometimes a simple idea takes on a life of its own. Last night was John`s birthday party. As always, the usual group of rif raf were present. So how do you continually have funny, different and interesting birthday parties year after year? Sometimes, I think, it happens purely by accident!

I decided as John loves bbq and I was out of theme ideas for his party.... already done toga, redneck, surfing, carnival..... I would have a Spicey BBQ party with our friend Kristy who sells Sunset Gourmet. (if you haven't heard or tasted go to http://www.sunsetgourmet.ca) because they are Canadian and I love all of it.

So, invites went out and I ordered a bunch of items and planned the menu to include: bourbon chicken, spicy meatballs, mini sliders on beer buns, mango tinis and chocolate/cherry/vanilla desert mix (yummmmmm) and an assortment of dips. When our hostess arrived she brought every other possible dip combination in the company! We ate we laughed and we found out our hostess was a perfect fit for our LDO group and her husband was a perfect fit for our husbands!

The night was fun and entertaining! Everyone had LOTS to eat, and John was very happy by 1am. Thank you to all who could come. Wish it had been outside but we work with what we are given......

I want to thank Melissa for another lovely funny cake for John. Pam for offering to help set up. Lacey for doing prep work when she arrived. John for ending up bbqíng at his own party. Calumn for running out for propane at the last minute. Kristy for all the extras she brought. Donna for sneaking around cleaning up.

AND THANK YOU! to everyone who came out last night to celebrate.

Good night
