What do I do with my spare time?

My friends and I are scrapbookers.

We all enjoy everything about the craft.

We also enjoy sharing recipes, road trips, and spending time with our family.
We use terms that anyone outside the circle may not understand.
So, tonight I have found some definitions...

Cropping refers to the removal of the outer parts of an image to improve, accentuate subject matter or change the view. Depending on the application, this may be performed physically, artistically or digitally.

Scrap booking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Include photographs, printed media, and artwork. Scrapbook albums are often decorated and frequently contain extensive journaling. Scrap booking is a widely practiced pastime.

Genealogy known as family history, is the study of family and the tracing of their lineage and history. The results are often displayed in charts or written as narratives. The pursuit of family history and origins tends to include a sense of responsibility to preserve the past for future generations.

Artist a person engaged in one or more activities related to creating, practicing and/or demonstrating an art. Art is the product of activities, usually involving imaginative and/or technical skill. The most general form these activities produce works of art, the criticism of art and the appreciation of technique.

Sketch a drawing or other composition that is not intended as a finished work, but a preliminary idea to work from.

Road Trip is a journey via automobile, sometimes unplanned or impromptu. It is a journey involving shopping or ventures close to or far away from home.

Shopping is a day when friends become involved in the shopping experience. Social shopping can be found happening in physical malls and stores.

Embellishments are a decorative detail or feature added to a project to make it more attractive. It is a detail, small or large added only to make something more interesting or entertaining.

Day tripping is a visit to a destination or attraction but returns home on the same day. Such an excursion does not involve a night away from home and is a popular form of recreation for women with young children, people too frail to travel or who own pets.

Hoarding is a general term for a behavior that some hobbyists fall into with the over purchasing of supplies and tools. This leads some people to accumulate more items in the fear that they may miss out on a deal, or that someone else will have more toys to play with.

Swap is an event in which two or more parties exchange items of equal value and work. The benefits in question depend on the type of terms that have been arranged. Swaps can be used to quickly acquire numerous items that are similar, but may in fact be come from an unexpected direction.

Kit a collection of items or components needed for a specific purpose, especially for use by a hobbyist. The items will be similiar in nature or color or purpose and able to be used together.

Crotchal Area is a description of the area pertaining to, or located in the crotch. It is the location missing embellishments will inevitably land while working on a project.

Page layout is the part of design that deals in the arrangement of visual elements on a page. It generally involves principles of composition to achieve specific communication objectives. The page layout involves deciding on the overall arrangement of text and images and possibly on the size or shape of each of the mediums being used.

I spent today playing with all these things, and spending time with those who also enjoy all these things. What can I say? 12 hours of playing with paper, glue and embellishments.
All that and we were fed too!

Good night from John Street.
