How in the world can tomorrow be Christmas Eve???

I know I have been planning hoarding and stockpiling so much that I should be happy, but where in the world did 2014 go?

It definitely does not seem like 1 year ago that Judy received her 4 year service medal, or we had to say good bye to Aaron who aged out and Judy had JUST became a Warrant Officer (March). It was 8 months ago she was in the essay contest? Easter and then I turned 46, Judy turned 17 and John turned 47 and 6 months ago we watched her receive a military citizenship award and Dad had his cancer surgery?!?!?! Summer came and flew by, happy 23rd anniversary. Back to school (grade 12?). Another thanksgiving and Halloween and all of a sudden Christmas? already?
I should be happy I can remember what happened, but I am also sad that all of it went by already too. TOO FAST.

It was like 2014 played
out in fast forward. I think for the next few days I would like to push the pause button and slow everything down to enjoy it.

We are having a pretty good time here on John Street, lots of snacking and movies in between holiday chores. The house may be ready yet! You got to love a crock pot around this time of year, just in case guests drop in. No supper is ruined if they do, just turn it down and eat later.

Tomorrow the Shannon's start their annual run for the families.
We are celebrating at my oldest nephew's home in Lucan. Hoping I remember everything I am supposed to bring as it is too far away to just go back and grab it!
A Christmas with 2 little ones should be fun!

and here is the 2nd last installment of 8 simple ideas........

  • Never miss an opportunity to shake Santa's hand
(especially if he is at your front door)
  • If your family doesn't have many traditions, let this be the year to start one
(even if it just what you eat Christmas morning)
  • For Christmas dinner prepare as many dishes as possible ahead of time
(made my stuffing "stuff" way early and froze it. will take it out with the bird)
  • Turn down the thermostat before guests arrive, crowded  rooms heat up quickly
(not a problem here on John Street - the igloo house)
  • Stock up on paper, cards and paper goods at the sales
    (always done here)
  • Feed an expired parking meter
(did you know this is illegal in some places?)
  • Don't expect your family to wear halo's the whole season.
Give them the gift of patience, flexibility and a sense of humour
(and hope they do the same for you)
  • On New Years Day light 3 candles and think of the 3 things you are most thankful for

Good night
