December 25th 2014

Our Christmas Day started right at midnight
with 2 very anxious people in my house
begging to open, or have someone be allowed to open, gifts!

Unfortunately John had had to receive his special gift from Judy
at 10pm on Christmas Eve because the high winds
had partly unwrapped the YORK gym she bought him
and stored in the 2nd garage had moved been exposed
when the wind opened its door.

We spent 3 hours taking our time opening gifts,
laughing, taking lots of pictures,
and sometimes getting so excited we cried!

It was amazing.
Everyone had stayed on budget (or reasonably close),
and we all had put thought into the gifts
which made each one a perfect choice.

At 3am three very tired people
headed to bed with big smiles.
One very pooped beagle
crawled the stairs with us after tearing to shreds, all the used gift wrap.

We slept in and got dressed.
It was our turn to drive to Christmas this year.
We laughed and talked about Christmas memories
on the two hour drive to Beamsville.
Mom and Dad were ready for us,
and were very surprised to see all the treats we had brought
to add to the Christmas fondue table.

The fondue was fun, although John kept burning his meat!
We ate lots and talked throughout the meal.
After a clean up,
we sat down to open gifts.
Round robin style we took turns opening fun gifts.
We had agreed to cut back this year,
and I was glad.
John was funny, in a great mood
and kept us all laughing all day.

At about 8pm we started gathering up for the long drive home.
Mom and I agreed we would keep Christmas at her house next year,
as it is easier for Dad right now.

It isn't that long a drive really,
but when everyone is tired
from a number of long days of partying, food and excitement,
the drive seems endless.

We got home and all sat down
and watched the last episode of Hell on Wheels
before bringing it back
and all thankfully heading to bed.

Boxing Day here
is time to read manuals
put things away
and relax.
Drop ins are kind of expected around here tomorrow
so treats will be put out
and no big projects underway.

I hope you had a very lovely Christmas
however you chose to celebrate it.

Merry Christmas from 49 John Street
