Christmas Day 2020

Screens free day.

I slept in... 10:30

Not much to prep,

As the table was set,

The turkey was prepped

And all the gifts wrapped.

Did a bit of kitchen clean up

After having (once again this year)

Burnt cinnamon buns.

He put them in - read the directions -

They said 17 min - 

he came back after 40 min

And so the tradition carries on.

Sat eating banana cream pie

For breakfast instead

Then spent 30 minutes,

Lighting the trees and candles!

Snacks on the table

And john went and picked up Mom.

The better part of the day was spent

In our matching green and navy

Plaid pyjamas sitting in the living room

Opening gifts and giggling

Like little kids 

When unpacking our stockings.

Pets got their gifts,

Each a bag of treats, 

A can of turkey soft dinner

And a couple new toy balls\mice.

Each animal sat waiting for the treats

To be opened like we were idiots

For not doing it right away.

The 3 of us took our time 

opening gifts, 

laughing at the dumber gifts 

And amazed by the interesting 

wrapping techniques of hubby. 

Best moment today? 

Knock at door. 

The new kids (4) 

from down the street 

advising me they WILL 

Be building me a christmas snowman

and did!!!! 

I thanked them

And they apologized that the snow

Was not very good packing stuff!

I took a photo 

And sent them off 

with a goody bag full of treats!!!!

Dinner was simple!

Hot turkey sandwiches on

Mom called it "cake bread"

 Which didn't go soggy

And was still warm enough

To melt butter on. 

We used my new - get this - 

air fryer\rotisserie\dehydrator

\toaster oven!!!!!

To make fries to go with the turkey

And mom wanted peas.

Dessert was mincemeat tarts,

Warm cherry tarts with ice cream

Or pumpkin pie with whip cream.

After we straightened up

(Making a to go box of turkey for mom)

We watched White Christmas together

And hung some vintage ornaments

On the tree.

I am Sooooo pooped.

Bedtime for this exhausted girl.
