November 15th

Another busy day here on John Street. What is a weekend without laundry? Yup another laundromatt run this morning. We got that all put away, and Judy and I spent the afternoon making the window decorations for the front porch. Love the finished product...

Great use for old christmas gift bags.... and photographic proof that a paint job is needed in the spring! hahhahahahhahahahha

John and Judy had to work tonight so I had a super lazy night doing NOTHING. I laid around, watched a movie, played some computer card games and chilled. I think that was more tiring than actually accomplishing something. Tomorrow is back to the post it note wall, after getting some groceries.

Time to get some cleaning done so I can decorate.

I love going through the decorations, but this year I am photographing each that has a history, and then creating a photobook of our holiday memories. At least then I will know some of my stories will be passed down through the generations.

Today's 8 awesome ideas are.......

  • Display prominently children's Christmas artwork
  • If there is a model train in the attic or basement, get it out and set it up under the tree
  • Santa's Thumbprint Cookies

3/4 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 large egg
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 cup granulated sugar (optional)

    Directions:

    PREHEAT oven to 375° F.
BEAT peanut butter, brown sugar, butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in flour and baking soda.
SHAPE dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in 1 cup granulated sugar; place on ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE for 7 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned.

Immediately press the thumbprint again while it is warm.
Cool cookies on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Spoon jelly into the indentation when ready to serve and drizzle with icing if desired

  • Videotape family members recalling favourite Christmas memories
  • Unplug the Christmas lights before going to bed or leaving the house
  • At least once in your life go t New York and see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show and enjoy the skaters and huge tree at Rockefeller Center
  • Buy a big wall calendar in december and ask family members to write down their activities to avoid any mix ups
  • Never give your credit card over the phone unless you initiated the call

Good night
